Gustavo Pessin holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of São Paulo (USP), with a sandwich period at Heriot-Watt University (UK) and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has worked in various research laboratories in Brazil, the UK, and Switzerland, focusing on mobile robotics and intelligent systems. He is a member of the graduate programs at UFOP/ITV, Unifesspa/ITV, and a collaborating professor at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). His research involves machine learning, intelligent instruments, and robotics applied to mining.

Luciano Perdigão Cota holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), with a postdoctoral fellowship in optimization at ITV MI. He is an adjunct researcher at ITV, working in the area of optimization applied to mining and industry. He is a permanent professor in the following graduate programs:
Specialization in Process Automation; Specialization in Mining; PROFICAM Master’s Degree (ITV/UFOP); PPGTIM Master’s Degree (ITV/Unifesspa); Master’s and PhD programs in PPGCC (UFOP).
He advises master’s and doctoral students, contributing directly to academic and scientific training in various fields of engineering and mining.

He has experience in metaheuristics, mixed-integer linear programming, simheuristics, routing, sequencing, blending, and mining problems, as well as other industrial applications. He is a member of the Brazilian Operations Research Society (SOBRAPO), the GOAL group (UFOP), and a collaborator in the Production Engineering and Computational Intelligence group at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC).

As a researcher at ITV MI, Rosa Elvira Correa Pabón holds a degree in Physics from the Universidad Industrial de Santander (Spain), a PhD in Sciences from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Geosciences of the same university. She has experience in the field of remote sensing, working mainly with reflectance spectroscopy, imaging spectroscopy (hyperspectral and multispectral), spectral behavior of targets, mineral exploration, environmental monitoring, instrumentation, automation, and integration in mining processes.

Thomás Vargas Barsante e Pinto is a PhD candidate in the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and holds a master’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, and Automation of Mining Processes from the PROFICAM program, a partnership between ITV MI and the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP). Graduated in Control and Automation Engineering from UFOP, he is a researcher at ITV MI and works mainly in the development of advanced and regulatory control systems, dynamic simulation of mining processes, and vehicle traffic.

Luiz Guilherme Dias de Barros has been a researcher in Robotics at ITV MI since 2021, focusing on the development and application of robotic devices in industrial mining environments, aiming to increase productivity and reduce operational risks. He works on automation and mechatronics projects, with an emphasis on promoting industrial robotics.

He is a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at the São Carlos School of Engineering at the University of São Paulo (USP), where he develops mechatronic projects for robotic devices. He holds a master’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, and Automation of Mining Processes from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university. He also holds an MBA in Project Management from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (Esalq/USP).

José Manuel Gonzalez Tubio Perez holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from COPPE, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a master’s degree from the University of São Paulo (USP), and a specialization in Process Control and Optimization from the same university. He graduated in Electronic Engineering from UFRJ and has worked in the field of Industrial Instrumentation and Process Automation since 1986, with solid experience in both industrial and academic environments.

He is a researcher at ITV MI, where he develops research and applied solutions in instrumentation and automation for mining. He has taught graduate courses at the Brazilian Oil and Gas Institute (IBP), SENAI, and Petrobras training programs, as well as at institutions such as the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), CEFET, Santa Úrsula University, and Souza Marques, in the fields of mechanical engineering, electronics, and automation.

André Luiz Maciel Cid is a Control and Automation engineer from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), with a technical degree in Industrial Automation from IFMG – Ouro Preto Campus. He holds a professional master’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, and Automation of Mining Processes from ITV MI, in partnership with UFOP, with a focus on robotics applied to mining.

He is currently a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and works as a researcher at ITV MI, developing robotics solutions aimed at automating industrial processes in the mining sector.

Iranildes Daniel dos Santos holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from COPPE, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and a master’s degree from the same institution, both focused on flotation and electrochemistry. She earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) and completed postdoctoral research at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) in bioflotation, and at COPPE/UFRJ in electrometallurgy and effluent treatment.

Since 2013, she has worked as a researcher at ITV MI, developing projects in hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, electrochemistry, and effluent treatment applied to the mining of base and ferrous metals. She is a collaborating professor in the PROFICAM master’s degree (UFOP/ITV) and coordinator of the Specialization course in Mineral Processing at ITV. She also co-supervises master’s and doctoral students in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Program at COPPE/UFRJ, in partnership with Prof. Dr. Achilles Dutra.
