Aimed at experienced geotechnical professionals with a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree – whether they work at Vale or not – who are looking to apply the knowledge they have acquired in their operational geotechnical activities to high standards of international quality. This specialization aims to: characterize soils and rocks in the laboratory and in situ (at the original site) using high quality techniques and procedures; analyze the static and dynamic causes of the failure of dams, piles, and mine shafts using state-of-the-art technology; evaluate safety and economy using 3D probabilistic numerical methods and methodologies; and apply advanced geotechnical monitoring systems that allow waste structures (dams and piles) and mine shafts to be managed to high safety standards. The course also enables the practice of integrated, real-time geotechnical management based on connectivity and innovative systems.
